WordPress expects a compressed file. Manually compressing the folder full of files that was automatically unpacked after downloading and using your compressed file can cause problems within WordPress.

It’s best to turn off the Safari Preferences option to Open “safe” files after downloading prior to downloading the theme. To turn this option off, in the Safari menu click Safari and then Preferences.  Make sure the General tab is selected.  Then click the Open “safe” files after downloading checkbox so that it is unchecked.
